What is A Pass Plus Driving Course?

Pass Plus is a driver training course for newly qualified drivers usually taken within the first year after passing the driving test.

The Pass Plus Driving Course was designed by a collaboration between:

• The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, DVSA, (at the time it was the Driving Standards Agency, DSA)
• Insurance Companies
• Driving Instructors

Statistically new drivers have a high crash risk, the Pass Plus Driving Course was introduced to try to reduce that risk.

The course is designed to give newly qualified drivers extra skill or experience in situations that they may not have covered in depth whilst preparing for their driving test.

Pass Plus Intensive Driving Course Structure

Pass Plus is a driving course consisting of 6 modules, to be completed over a minimum of 6 hours.

Intensive Driving Courses delivers the Pass Plus driving course as a full day of training, completing the whole Pass Plus driving course in one day.

Pass Plus does not involve a driving test, you are assessed by your Intensive Driving Courses Driving Instructor during the driver training sessions, and each module is marked as either ‘achieved the standard’ or ‘exceeded the standard’.

You do not fail any module, if necessary, extra training would bring the standard up to the required level, but it is extremely rare for us to have to recommend extra training

• Module 3: Out of Town & Rural Roads
• Module 4: Night Driving
• Module 5: Dual Carriageways
• Module 6: Motorways

Pass Plus Insurance Discount

In return for completing the Pass Plus Driving Course some Insurance Companies will give a discount.

The discount can vary, and it is possible that you might find an insurance company that is cheaper even without completing Pass Plus.

The biggest value to be gained from completing a Pass Plus course is the skill, ability and confidence gained, which should also mean an increase in safety

Pass Plus Intensive Driving Course Prices

The Pass Plus Driving Course consists of 6 modules and must be completed over a minimum of 6 hours.

Intensive Driving Courses delivers the Pass Plus driving course as a full day of training, completing the whole Pass Plus driving course in one day.

To complete the course, we need to be able to sign off each module as being achieved, it is extremely rare that we cannot do this within the 6 hours of training, but in rare occasions we would have to recommend extra training sessions in order to achieve the required standard.
